ECC saves porcupines!

The Elephant Conservation Centre has recently taken in 6 porcupines (Hystrix cristata): 4 from villages in Sayaboury Province and 2 from nearby Luang Prabang. They had been living in small cages for several months up to several years.

Prior to releasing them in the protected area, we marked the animals with some pink paint. This was done to deter hunters and to ensure that neighboring villagers would know these particular animals were rescued.
