History: Mae Khoun Song is originally from Thongmixay, where she initially worked in the logging industry under the guidance of several mahouts. When the logging industry ceased, she was transferred to a tourist camp in Luang Prabang for a few months before her owner brought her back to Thongmixay, where she lived alone in the forest for about two years. Wishing for her to have a better life, her last owner decided to sell her to the ECC. Mae Khoun Song arrived at the ECC in excellent physical condition, though initially, she felt overwhelmed by her new surroundings and the presence of so many other elephants. Her size also left some of the ECC elephants a bit intimidated. Mae Boun Nam was the first elephant to approach her, helping her gradually adjust to the company of other elephants. She has since settled in well and is now thriving under our care in Thongmixay.
