Mae Kham Peng 2

History: This elephant now enjoys a peaceful life at the ECC, having been rescued from illegal trade intended for a Middle Eastern zoo. After a significant intervention from the Prime Minister’s office, she escaped a life of degradation and is now free to thrive among our herd.

Since arriving in Thongmixay, she has formed a strong bond with Mae Bounmy Noy, and they are inseparable companions, sharing their days together in a nurturing environment. With the support of our dedicated welfare and conservation programme, she is experiencing the joy of social interactions and the comforts of sanctuary life.

We hope that through our breeding programme, she will contribute to the future of Laos’ elephant population

Distinguishing features: Very tall.

Personality traits: She likes to be alone. It is difficult for her to socialise with other elephants.

  • Gender: Female
  • Year of birth: 1983
