Plant a seed in young hearts
Kids in Conservation is the Elephant Conservation Center’s flagship education programme for Lao schoolchildren (ages 8–15). It uses the endangered Asian elephant as a lens on biodiversity, culture, and human responsibility. Observation-led sessions draw on ECC’s real work: Laos’ only elephant hospital, ranger patrols across Nam Pouy NPA, and the 2019 rewilding of four elephants.
Why it matters: Laos, the “Land of a Million Elephants,” now has an estimated 600–700 elephants. Children in Sayaboury live with elephants but receive little conservation education. Every session ends with one concrete action, like planting a tree, making young people part of the long-term solution.
A session for an entire school from neighbouring districts costs $2,000. It includes transportation, meals, T-shirts, and an educational kit for 20 schoolchildren or students + 2-4 teachers.
