Conservation Volunteering

Join our team in Laos for seven days of fieldwork, observation, and elephant-focused learning.

Where Science, Culture and Authentic Laos Meet

From the quiet awe of your first forest observation to the satisfaction of contributing real data, the week unfolds as a progression from discovery to participation to understanding.

Volunteers leave with not only practical knowledge but also a heartfelt connection to the elephants, the people protecting them, and the landscapes they inhabit.

This programme is all-inclusive and the fee covers accommodation in shared dorms, all meals, return transport between Luang Prabang and the Elephant Conservation Center, learning materials, and expert instruction from ECC staff, including our in-house veterinarians and biologists.

Experience a life-changing week in the heart of Laos, where elephants roam freely through Sayaboury’s ancient forests.

The Conservation Volunteering Programme combines hands-on fieldwork, scientific learning, and deep cultural immersion.

Set beside Nam Tien Lake and the Phou Xang mountains, volunteers work alongside our conservationists, veterinarians, and mahouts to restore elephant habitats, observe behaviour, and explore welfare science in our hospital and research lab. Every task supports real conservation — from rewilding efforts to welfare monitoring.

This unique programme offers more than experience — it offers transformation. As you learn, work, and share with the people of Sayaboury, you’ll gain both practical skills and a heartfelt connection to elephants and their forest home.

Join us in Sayaboury — the Homeland of the Lao Elephant — and become part of Southeast Asia’s most inspiring elephant conservation story.
