Two artists at the ECC
We were delighted to welcome French artists Agnès Rosse and Pierre Tilman at the ECC during two months!
Agnès Rosse mainly works with video and photography. She is a women full of energy. Her work is very original and surprising and you can have a glimpse at her creations on her website http://www.agnesrosse.com/. She had been working with animals such as ants, giraffes and elephants.
Pierre Tilman, her partner in life, is both a writer and a poet (and makes great massages!). Very quiet and observer, he and Agnes are in a true osmosis. Inspired by the elephants, Pierre has been writing a book about artists in Sète, a small French town, while staying at the ECC.
All this artistic energy filled us up and we hope they will come back soon.
The Baci ceremony at the ECC
The Baci ceremony at the Center is now over. Spirits have successfully returned home!
The "Baci" or "sou khouan" means " Caling the souls back". So it's a call at each soul who may have left our body because they have been attracted by an emotion, the seduction of somebody, or the beauty of a place (such the ECC!)
During the ritual, the Chaman calls the souls of all participants and invites them to come back to their original bodies. To attract them, a pyramid of flowers, and food such as chicken, rice, or cakes are displayed in the middle of the assembly. The souls love this. And at the end, to keep them inside our bodies, people attach cotton threads to others' wrists and chant some wishes like good luck, happiness and wealth... The elephants do participate in the Baci and are the only animal, with the buffalo, who can attend the ritual.
Now, nobody can be worried by ghost any more. The center's personnel and elephants are safe and well guarded by the center's spirits.
