ElefantAsia is a charity which aims to safeguard the Asian elephant, an emblematic species worldwide and is currently the only organization in Laos to provide veterinary care, promote welfare and to encourage reproduction of this population of endangered elephants.
In order to help ElefantAsia carry on its action, we propose you to sponsor an elephant by making a donation of 100 $ (or more!).
Sponsored Elephants
The proposed elephants are hosted at the Elephant Conservation Center in the Province of Sayaboury. They are either pregnant females, mothers with their babies, injured or sick elephants undertaking treatment, or old animals enjoying a peaceful and well deserved "retirement". All these elephants are cared after by the ElefantAsia veterinary team in the first hospital/nursery for elephants in Laos.
Our commitments
ElefantAsia is committed to providing quality care to the elephant that you sponsor, to ensure him/her a good health and wellbeing.
Once your payment is made and received by the association, you will receive an access code (login and password) to access the blog dedicated to your elephant (see details of the procedure on the confirmation page of your payment).
If you are planning a trip to Laos, you can come to meet the elephant you sponsored at the Elephant Conservation Centre as it offers several accommodation options (see programs and package prices on this website).
The sponsorship period is one year but may be shorter if the elephant has left the Center before. For example, if you sponsor an elephant which is hosted at the Centre as part of ElefantAsia’s breeding program, the elephant might be present at the Centre for several months already. It is therefore possible that the owner's contract ends before the Sponsorship period of one year has ended. Each case is different. However, the balance of donations received in this case will be reassigned to the provision of care for elephants at the Centre and throughout Laos.
Several sponsors may sponsor a same elephant.
Using your donations
Donations for sponsoring an elephants are used primarily to finance the care of elephants at the Center, but also all elephants in Laos. Care is provided by ElefantAsia’s mobile veterinary units who patrol the country throughout the year. *
Thanks to you, our veterinary team will continue to provide free care to ALL elephants in the country, regardless of health status and cost of treatments!
* Mains costs include: cost of vehicle (fuel, maintenance), purchase of medicines, veterinary analisis, provision of a free first aid kit & manual for mahouts.
Procedure for sponsoring an elephant
1) Review the information on elephants within the list to choose the one you want to sponsor;
2) Bring your financial support via the 'PayPal' button.

Via paypal, a secure online payment system. Please including your name, the name of the chosen elephant and your email address (so that we can send you the access codes to your elephant’s personal blog).
