3 Days / 2 Nights Package

    This package has been designed for customers who plan to get to Sayaboury by public transportation. There are 2 buses per day from Luang Prabang to Sayaboury respectively at 9:00am and 2:00pm. The price per person is 60.000Kip one way. It takes approximately 3,5 to 4 hours to reach Sayaboury city.

    Day 1: Pick up at Sayaboury bus station – Boat trip – Visit of the Center – Meeting with elephants, veterinarians, mahouts and guide – Elephant Bath – Take elephants back to the forest – Dinner

    We will pick you up at Sayaboury bus station early afternoon, after lunch, and take you directly to the ECC by tuk tuk, and then by our own boat, across the Nam Tien Lake.
    This is a majestic lake with many islands surrounded by a natural forest. Welcome to your idyllic holiday destination, the Land of the Asian Elephant!


    - Short boat trip on the Nam Tien lake

    Transfer to the ECC by boat across the lake. An English speaking guide will welcome you before settling in to your comfortable bungalow.
     

    - Guided visit of the Center with veterinarians

    Visit the only hospital dedicated to elephants in Laos. Vets will tell you about their work here and will take you around the facility. Then, you will have further opportunity to see, observe and learn about the mysterious pachyderm at the museum and at the mahout school.
     

    - Interacting with elephants (Step 1)

    The Mahouts will then show you the three different ways to mount and dismount an elephant the traditional way (bareback) and basic commands used to control an elephant. You will be proposed to ride at the elephant yard to implement your fresh knowledge.

    - Elephant Bath

    Elephants are surprisingly good swimmers and love water. You will witness the unique bond between the mahout and elephant.

    - Follow the elephants to their night resting place.

    You will be welcomed to join the mahouts for a walk in the forest to take the elephants back to their nightly resting place. Before dinner, you will have time to relax on the lake shores, visit the elephant museum, swim or simply enjoy a fresh drink.

    Day 2: Breakfast – Walking with elephants – Interacting with elephants (Step 2) – Lunch – Visit of the Nursery – Elephant feeding – Elephant Bath – Sunset cruise on the lake – Dinner

    Enjoy a western-style breakfast served in our restaurant.

    - Walk with elephants and explore the forest

    After a safety briefing, you will join the elephants for their daily exercise, an hour walk in the surrounding tropical forest. Stay close to the elephant, it will show you the way. Your guide will teach you how Lao people use plants and trees collected in the jungle.

    - Interacting with elephants (Step 2)

    You are now going to spend some intimate time at the Yard with Mae Khamon, Mae Bounnam, Mae Dok and Phu Thongkhoon, our four resident elephants. Elephants have a delicate diet, and under professional guidance, you will feed them. You can also learn how to ride bareback, the traditional way, sitting on the neck with the help of mahouts and guides.

    - Lunch

    For lunch, enjoy a variety of Lao foods served at our restaurant.

    - Discover the Nursery

    After lunch, you will visit our elephant nursery. It is located inside the forest where the baby elephants are learning how to sustain themselves closely watched by mum. You will receive information about the reproduction program set up by the NGO ElefantAsia while watching them play.

    - Elephant Bath

    - Follow the elephants to their nightly resting place.

    You will be welcomed to join the mahouts for a walk in the forest to take the elephants back to their nightly resting place. Using your knowledge recently acquired about commanding an elephant, it should not be a problem for you to take part in the action.

    - Sunset cruise on the lake

    Take a boat trip on the lake to watch the sunset over the islands while enjoying a fresh drink and snacks. Before dinner, you will have some time to visit the elephant museum, swim or simply relax on the lake shore.

    Day 3: Breakfast – Trekking to the Buddha's Footprint – Lunch – Transfer back to Sayaboury Bus Station

    Enjoy a western-style breakfast served in our restaurant.

    - Trekking and sightseeing

    Your guide will lead you for a half day trekking through the forest to discover the hidden sacred Buddha footprint... You can learn about local customs and fall in love with the beauty of the forest and landscapes.

    - Lunch

    For lunch, enjoy a variety of Lao foods served at our restaurant.

    - Transfer back to Sayaboury bus station

    After lunch, you will leave the ECC by boat Sayaboury Bus Station at 12:30pm.
