Mr Loung La, her keeper, is very attentive to his elephant. Loung La worked for 20 years hauling logs, with 5 different elephants. For four months Mae Boun Nam has been employed at the ECC.

They form a beautiful duet. Loung La is very happy with his elephant and has no problem of controling her. He is a very cheerful man who is always kidding! Recently, Mae Boun Nam has been very interested in Phu Thongkroon, the male elephant of the Centre. They often cuddle during bath time. However, it appears that Thongkoon is not yet ready to embark on a love story! We kept both elephants several times in the breeding area, but it produced no result. In recent days it appeared that our male did show more interest in Kham Mae Ohn. In any case we hope that one day Mae Boun Nam fall pregnant, be it through artificial insemination if our male doesn't want to mate.
